Andrea Borsuk traces the journey from her Santa Cruz home to Riverside in black and white strokes as part of a new mural at the Riverside Art Museum.

Borsuk’s exhibit, “Leap of Faith,” portrays changes in the terrain along the route, from oceans to mountains, to farmlands to deserts. She layers paintings, drawings and objects on top of the wall mural to explore the precarious notion of time and destiny.

Good luck charms and safety devices dot the landscape, with the aim of extending life’s journey a bit longer. The public can contribute its own charms and write wishes next to the mural.

Borsuk, 54, also has created a display of 42 painted tarot cards, “The Mortals.” Visitors can pull from the deck and engage in a personal tarot reading.

The exhibit runs until Jan. 11. The public can meet Borsuk and participate in a free demo from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at the museum, 3425 Mission Inn Ave., Riverside.
